Gainsborough Stingrays at Mountaire Park - Swim Meet Information June 9
Hello Stingrays!
Our next swim meet is Tuesday, June 9 at Mountaire Park Pool. The address is 75 Bonnie Lane, Sandy Springs GA 30328.
We will send out the meet sheet Monday evening or Tuesday Morning.
Please be at the pool at 4:30 to park, find the team area and get ready for warm up
Our team will warm up at 5pm. Volunteer meeting 5:15pm
The meet will start at 5:30pm. CHECK IN Swimmers check in with the coaches upon arrival. They will also have caps for everyone. Please sign up to volunteer, if you have not yet at: Volunteer Here
PARKING:
Message from the host team "Parents are welcome to park in the pool lot while official spaces are available. Please ask your parents to NOT park anywhere in the pool driveway; there will be signs indicating this and it’s important for safety reasons that everyone adheres to avoid having your car towed or moving them in the middle of the meet. There is street parking in the neighborhood around our pool. We only allow parking on one side of the road; this is so that first responders can easily get around if needed. Please ask parents to observe the “no parking” signs on the street and do their best to not block mailboxes or driveways."
TEAM AREA:
The visiting team bullpen (us) will be just outside the pool gate on the basketball court. Their pool is built in a former granite quarry and is fairly shady in the afternoons. They recommend bringing bug spray, especially for the volunteers! Deck space is very limited so we will be on deck for races and then on the court between them.
POOL INFORMATION:
The pool has 6 lanes. Gainsborough will be in Lanes 1, 3 and 5 for heat 1.
CONCESSIONS:
They will have a full concession stand with burgers, pizza, snacks, candy and drinks. Concessions will accept ApplePay, credit cards and cash.
Things to bring:
- Team Suit (if you have one- or a blue competitive suit)
- Team cap, bring it from last week. The first one each season is free and there may be a charge for additional caps. (write swimmers name in or on cap.)
- Your team shirt (see Katie or Annie at practice if you have not gotten yours)
- Goggles, extra pair if you have them (no need for fins)
- Two or more towels, dry clothes
- Quiet activities like playing cards, drawing or games.
- Snacks, something for dinner, water and or money for concessions
- Folding chairs if you want (you may want them this week to sit on the basketball court)
Things to know about the meet:
- The Heat Sheet and Athlete list will be sent out on Monday or early Tuesday. You may want to Print out the heat sheet to follow the meet or subscribe to the Swimtopia App where it is published. Athlete Check in allows you to see what your swimmer is swimming.
- Parents are responsible for keeping track of your swimmer and making sure they get to the bullpen 4-5 events before each race. From there the bullpen volunteers and coaches will make sure they get to their race.
In the case of bad weather, communications will be sent on Remind. If we are in the middle of the meet and have a “shelter in the car” due to thunder, please check Remind and do not leave without letting us know or the go ahead to do so. If the meet is cancelled in advance (very unlikely), info will be sent via email and on Remind.
Marking up your Swimmer (to make sure they know what they are swimming and when)
- Coaches can help with marking.
- For 10U, names and ages should be written on their back right shoulder (helps all volunteers)
- Find your child’s race information on the Athlete list
- Label your swimmers with a black sharpie with their race details.
- On their forearm, mark their event information:
| E | H | L |
(E = event, H = heat, L = lane). For relays, add a slash followed by the position on the relay after the lane# (1, 2, 3 or 4)
When arriving at the meet:
- Check-in with the coach
- Find the team area
- Get ready for 5pm warmup
- Swimmers 7yrs old and over should checkout with Katie or Annie if leaving before relays.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
