Divisionals - RSVP & Important Information PLEASE READ
Hi Stingrays!
The Divisionals Meet is coming up on Thursday, June 26!
Please RSVP here (yes or no) by June 18 at noon and indicate what two individual events your children will swim. We have a hard deadline set by the league to meet.
Due to ASA raising their participation fees to $50/swimmer, Gainsborough is asking each of our swimmers attending Divisionals to contribute $25 toward their registration fee. Please visit https://
Swimmers will not be registered for the Divisionals meet without payment confirmation.
More details:
- Every. Stingray. Counts. The beautiful thing about the Divisional meet is that swimmers score points in places 1-24. Depth across age groups has always been Gainsborough Stingrays Secret Sauce. IE--We didn't get 1st in that race? But we got 10th, 11th, 17th, 20th, 24th? Guess who gets the most points? Stingrays!! This is a meet that we have shined at in previous years.
- Start time: Our session is Thursday, June 26 and starts at 9am. Arrival will be 7 or 7:30am at GA Tech depending on our assigned warm up time.
- End time: The meet will end by 1pm.
- Where: Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center Aquatic Center, 750 Ferst Drive, Atlanta
- Events: Swimmers can pick their two individual events! So have fun! Once submitted to ASA, there can be NO changes. The event order is different than for our Tuesday night meets. It goes: 1. 6&U Free Relay, 2. All Medley Relays, 3. 6&U 25 Free, 4. All Free Relays, 5. 6&U 25 Back, 6. All other events….
- Volunteers: Sign-up comes out next week when we hear from the league about our assignments.
- 6U participation: The majority of our 6Us this year are NOT ready for the overwhelming nature of Divisionals. We recommend giving them another year to grow in self-confidence. If you feel that you have a child who is an exception to that, please come speak with Katie or Annie to confirm their eligibility. If you are signing up a 6U to participate, you are required to be a parent volunteer on deck for our team. This meet can be very busy/overwhelming and 6U swimmers need a parent with them. All swimmers are welcome to come watch from the stands at any time!
- Swimmer/deck access: If you are not a parent on-deck volunteer, you will not have on-deck access to your swimmer(s) at GA Tech. You will drop them off to us at the warm-up, wave to them from the stands and pick them up when their events are done. We will check every swimmer in and out. All adults on-deck receive special wristband passes to be there. These are tightly monitored.
- Parents/guardians attendance: Even though we are responsible for the swimmers on deck during the meet, you need to have an adult responsible for your child in the building during the entire meet. If there is an injury, sudden illness or (with younger children) a crying/refusal to participate, we need a parent present who can receive the child at any time during the meet if they need to leave the deck. We are hopeful that this doesn’t happen much but there’s always one or two kiddos a year who just need to make an early exit for some reason.
- Pink Out: Coaches’ shirts and swimmer’s caps are hot pink. Feel free to join in on the neon pink! Caps will be given out at the meet.
- Boys/Girls pool: Divisionals run two pools at the same time: a girls’ pool and a boys’ pool. They are in the same space but are separately operated. Girls race in the pool closer to the diving well. Boys race in the pool closer to the score board.
- Parking: The link to buy parking is: Reserve Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Parking | Upcoming Games & Events | ParkMobile. We are the 2nd day June 26 – morning session. They will sell out so buy it now. You cannot park in this lot day-of without pre-paying for the pass. It is the closest and easiest lot.
This meet is a lot of fun! And a nice end to the season! We hope to have you all there.
We know this was a lot of information so please reach out with questions.
Thanks,
Katie & Annie
